The Konix Multi-system Games
Here are the know games that were either in development for the Konix Multi-system or had been planed to be. Some have screen shots from magazines and some have videos provided with kind permission of Jon Dean (the guy that actually filmed them). Please don't distribute or re-produce these videos as they remain Jon Dean's Copyright.
Tank Simulator - Konix Software
From the press release:
The TANK SIM was a project I was hoping to get Jonathan Griffiths to write - he was working on CONQUEROR at the time.
Well - pretty conclusive proof that no game code actually exists. It certainly would have been interesting to see how this game would have turned out. I'd like to have seen a nice wire frame Battlezone type game, looking back at Conqueror I think we may have got that.
Conqueror - Amiga
(Could this or something similar
have come to the Konix?)
Another quote which leads to a little bit of illumination:
TANK SIMULATOR (can be played as an arcade game or true sim)
This rather nicely leads to a little discussion about vaporware. It's a common practice in most industries to discuss a planned product as if it were a matter of fact. The consumers obviously are a little concerned when a product they are following fails to come out - this is when the product becomes vaporware. As you can see there are 20 odd games that have been mentioned for the Konix. The differentiation between them being that some had been started and real code existed hence a game then moves from being vaporware to an unreleased product.
There is also an intent behind vaporware that a product is being talked about, but is probably never going to be released. This sort of more cynical marketing is what vaporware should be attributed to.
