The Konix Multi-system Games
Here are the know games that were either in development for the Konix Multi-system or had been planed to be. Some have screen shots from magazines and some have videos provided with kind permission of Jon Dean (the guy that actually filmed them). Please don't distribute or re-produce these videos as they remain Jon Dean's Copyright.
Mr Do's Wild Ride - Electrocoin
This was a coin-op conversion, and I imagine it would have been a walk in the
park for the KMS. It just wasn't a triple A super hit which is what we would
have wanted to have seen on the KMS. It may have been fun, but in my 20+
years of playing arcade games and owning games machines, I can safely say
I've never played this game. It doesn't appeal to me and I've played similar
games in the genre.
This was to be Electrocoin's first foray into creating it's own software label - prior to this it imported arcade machines.
This is a platformer where the player controls Mr. Do, a Clown, on various
roller coaster platforms. The object of the game is to get to the goal while
avoiding roller coasters and collecting cherries for bonus points. The roller
coasters can be avoided by either climbing on ladders or getting off them
(for roller coasters that are directly above the player's platform). Mr. Do
can also run in this game, but at the expense of the bonus points that are
diminishing throughout the levels.
There are 6 unique levels before they start repeating again. There are prizes
at the goal that change after every cherry picked up. If a diamond shows up
as the prize and the player is at the goal and picks it up when it appears,
he will get an additional game credit.
This is the sequel to Mr. Do's Castle and
seems to be related to Go Go Coaster (perhaps
a widely released version where Universal replaced the main character with
the familiar & popular Mr. Do character).
Screenshots
Boy would I love these to be pictures from the Multi-system version - unfortunately, they are screen grabs from an arcade emulator. These were on the fantastic Killer List Of Videogames website - a useful resource for finding out information about obscure arcade games such as this one.
These screen shots are presented for you to understand what this game looked like if you've never heard of it before. You can also use it as a measure of the sort of task that the developers would have had ahead of them in porting this game to the Konix machine (in the case of this game - I don't think it would have been too challenging).
